Introducing The Oceanic Tarot by Jayne Wallace - Week 1
Introducing The Oceanic Tarot The Oceanic Tarot is inspired by the fantastical world of the ocean; its enchanting creatures and mythical beings offer a magical bridge between our earthly lives and the symbolic realm of dreams, the unconscious, and intuition.
A qualified PADI scuba diver, I have spent many summers exploring the oceans; as a clairvoyant, these deep, rich interior landscapes of the soul echo my personal experience when I connect psychically with a client through my tarot cards – entering an alternative universe of symbols, pictures, and sensations that tell the story of a client’s life. I have aimed to convey these impressions in the color, design, and unique images of the Oceanic Tarot you now possess.
There are 78 cards in the deck, which fall into two groups: 22 major arcana cards and 56 minor arcana cards (the word ‘arcana’ means ‘secret’). The major arcana (see page xx) reveals major turning points, while the minor arcana expresses day-today events. Like playing cards, the minors fall into four suits: Cups, Pentacles, Swords, and Wands. I have chosen a sea creature to represent each suit - on the Cups cards are dolphins, with sea turtles on the Pentacles, sharks on the Swords cards, and sea horses on the Wands (see page xx).
Easy meanings and instant advice
This deck and the cards’ meanings in this book are designed to be practical. Tarot cards are replete with fascinating symbols, and can work on a multitude of levels. While there are books available that deal with the esoteric interpretations of the tarot in detail, this little guide illuminates the meanings in a few sentences, so you can quickly and easily learn the meaning of the cards. At the end of each card interpretation, you’ll find advice. Many of us consult the cards when we have a problem, so the advice is perfect for a daily one-card reading (see page xx), or when you need instant guidance. As you become more confident reading cards for yourself and others, you may find that you don’t need to look up the cards’ meanings; you find yourself naturally connecting with the cards’ images, which are specially designed to appeal to your intuition.
At my concession, Psychic Sisters, within Selfridges, London. I’ve given thousands of tarot readings to people from every walk of life - and understand the guidance and insight so many of my clients have needed over the years. I hope that guides you, too, on your own spiritual journey, and answers the questions you have about your purpose, your past, the present, and of course, the future.
See you for next weeks blog.
